Opportunities & Support
Individual Training Plans
(Ongoing)
An individual training plan is customized to you, and is the first step to getting support and services that work for you.
Support can include things like funding, opportunities for work experience in your chosen field, skills development training—and more.
At the first session, you and your client service worker will clarify career goals and create a detailed, realistic action plan.
There are many opportunities and supports available. Your client service worker can help you access all the ones you qualify for in a timeline that is comfortable for you.
Training Groups
(Periodic)
Take advantage of training opportunities based on your interests in a small-group setting.
Training can cover everything from drone operation to archaeology, small engine repair to flagging and first aid—we are always looking for ideas for trainings to facilitate.
These group training opportunities are for Indigenous and other youth (ages 15–30) who are underemployed or unemployed in ʔamak̓ʔis Ktunaxa.
The goal is provide you with skills training, job readiness, certifications, and friendly support.
These groups are funded through the Government of Canada’s “BladeRunners” program.
Personalized Employment Support
(Ongoing)
Take advantage of free, one-on-one support that’s tailored to your job-seeking (and job-keeping) needs, including:
- Resume and cover letter writing
- Job-search strategies
- Interview prep and job-start funding
- Job coaching—for both clients and employers
If your client service worker doesn’t know the answer to a question, he or she will find it out for you.
Summer Student Wage Program
(Spring Intakes)
Let us help you snag your dream summer job.
High school and post-secondary students can design their own summer job experience aligned with their career interests.
Client Computer Stations
(Ongoing)
The Education & Employment Service Centre provides free access to the technology you need for job searching, resume building, online training and more.
Whether you’re applying for work, exploring education options or connecting with support services, our workstations are here to help you stay productive and on track.
Specific First Nations Supports
(Ongoing)
Support for First Nations people includes:
- Discretionary funding for immediate employment needs
- Industry training (e.g., occupational safety certifications)
- Educational sponsorships for post-secondary or trade programs
Tutoring
We have a certified teacher on staff who is Ktunaxa. Caytlyn Luke can help students at any stage of study in any grade. Her hours are between 9 and 12 and 1 and 4:30.
