Ktunaxa Language

The Current Situation:
Funding will continue to be the issue for language initiatives now… and in the future.
Without immediate community-wide changes and additional language programming, the Ktunaxa Language will become extinct. Current Ktunaxa teaching programs will not achieve the objective of maintaining Ktunaxa as a spoken language.
Saving the Ktunaxa Language can be achieved through community action, personal commitment, and by implementing a set of possible and affordable new programs.
Focussed implementation of a strongly developed program, funding to ensure continuity and the commitment at the community and Nation level will reverse the declining use of the language.
This additional programming to save the language should be divided into band school, school district, Band and Tribal Council level programming with Immediate, 2-3 year, and 5 year goals that are all measurable.
