KNC Employment Service Centre:
We continue to offer a range of self-serve resources to meet the needs of clients who prefer to work independently on their job search.
Resources include:
- Client computer stations with access to our website, which hosts various Job Search, Career Planning and Job Maintenance tools to help achieve employment goals. Computers can also be booked for Internet-based applications and online training.
- Labour Market Information including information on our industry employment partners.
- A member of the Employment team is always on-site to assist with navigating the Service Centre, answer job search questions, and provide referrals to other community resources or to get you started with a supported training plan (ITP)
Direct Client Services:
- Resume and cover letter assistance
- Job search strategies
- Interview preparation and job start support funding
- Wage-subsidy opportunities
- Development of an Individual Training Plan (ITP) that includes ongoing support services
- Job coaching for both clients and employers
Individual Training Plans:
An ITP is required for clients to access supported services including funding applications, work experience positions, job shadowing, job coaching, or skill development plans.
Don’t be afraid! The ITP ensures that both the client and the Employment Counselor have thoroughly thought about the career or employment goals and have agreed upon an action plan to attain them. The initial intake process takes an hour or two, and a plan that clearly defines the steps to achieve set goal(s) with timelines is developed. It also identifies roles for both the client and the Case Manager.
Book an appointment today by calling (250) 489-2464 or drop in and we will get you started on the spot.
Workshops:
We host a weekly workshop at our Service Centre. A monthly schedule is posted on this website as well as at the Centre. Workshops that we host include: Resume and cover letter writing, Job Maintenance tips, Career Interest Assessments, etc.
Funded Training Programs:
An ITP is required for clients to access supported services including: funding applications, work experience positions, job shadowing, job coaching, or skill development plans.
