Ktunaxa Nation Treaty Negotiations

Agreement in Principle Negotiations

The Ktunaxa Nation, B.C. and Canada are currently negotiating an Agreement in Principle (AIP). The target is to have a comprehensive AIP completed by June 2006 which will lay the foundation for Final Agreement negotiations.

The AIP includes many important areas of treaty negotiation. These areas of negotiation are referred to as “sub-agreements” or "chapters".

Based on the Ktunaxa Four Pillar view of what constitutes a Nation, the chapters being negotiated at the Ktunaxa Nation Treaty Table are:

The 20 sub-agreements are in various stages of discussion and negotiation.
