Memoranda of understanding
The main purpose of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) is to develop a formal government-to-government
relationship between the Ktunaxa Nation and the provincial
or federal government agency that has signed the MOU with
the Nation.
A number of Memoranda of Understanding
have been signed recently between the Nation and provincial
or federal government agencies. These include:
Archaeological
Resources
Provincial
Parks
Provincial
Fish & Wildlife
Land
Use Planning (MSRM)
Energy and Mineral Development
Federal Fish & Wildlife
Each MOU includes
the establishment of an intergovernmental management committee.
This committee ensures the parties work together collaboratively
in managing the lands and resources within the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory.
