POSITION SUMMARY
Part of a team of professionals dedicated to the well-being of young people and their families; being innovative, flexible, organized and responsive to the needs of all our clients of all Aboriginal descents (First Nations, Metis and Inuit). Working closely with the band leadership and communities, other KKCFS staff at all worksites, and community partners.
Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child and Family Service Society is an integrated multi-disciplinary team of staff that work in the following areas:
Early childhood prevention and intervention
Child care support
Family support
Family circles and family conferencing
Reconnection and family reconstruction
Voluntary social worker services
Guardianship to children in care
Kinship (Foster) care services
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide assessments, wide range of counseling and therapeutic services to adults, children and families.
- Conduct comprehensive detailed client assessments
- Conduct individual, marital, family, crisis and small group counseling sessions
- Develop primary and secondary prevention programs for specific groups
- Support, assist and participate in community development activities
- Consult and cooperate with other health professionals
- Prepare comprehensive reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work (clinical)
- Certified with BC Association of Clinical Counselors
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in related field
- Working knowledge of prevention, intervention and treatment techniques and resources
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal counseling, oral and written communication skills and case management skills
- Ability to plan, organize, implement and facilitate groups and other programs with a diverse population
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of First Nations culture and history; willingness to learn
- Computer literate working knowledge of MS Office and on-line record tracking system
- Valid class 5 BC Drivers License and reliable vehicle
